In Memory

Robert Babb

From a friend -

Late Wednesday night or early Thursday [March 18 or19] morning Robert Nixon Babb passed away.

Robert and his wifeMarcia were at the beach with a large group of about 16 people that play in The Jam Band with him.

Marcia had gone to bed and then everyone else, when Robert evidently decided to get into the hot tub at the beach house.  Marcia woke-up about 3 AM and realized Robert wasn’t there; so, she got up to look for him.  She found him in the hot tub, and he had passed.

At this time we don’t know exactly what happened.  But Robert had an issue with atrial fibrillation that could possibly have been the problem.

Robert is being cremated in Raleigh.  At this time there are no plans for a service, and there will only be a small, family gathering now and then a Celebration of Life at a later time due to the current pandemic.

I remember Robert well.  He was definitely a great, gentle guy.  When we were in the ninth grade, Robert took me to a school dance. His older brother drove.  My Mother never forgot that he brought an umbrella to the door to pick me up on that rainy night.  She always remembered him as a gentlemen.  Rest in heavenly peace, Robert.

I have the photo of McClintock's basketball team in our 9th grade year. Bobby Lawing, Mark Little, Clayton Love, and now Robert are deceased. Of 14, that is too many.
