A Good Time was had by All!
The 55th Class Reunion is in the books - over and done. Over 80 participants gathered to share memories of those high school days gone by. There were lots of familiar faces and the nametags were also helpful.
We missed those of you that could not be there for the event but look forward to seeing you in the future.
Pictures of the even will be posted as soon as they are processed by the photographer.
A list of participants will also be posted.
By popular demand, here is the poem written by our very own poet Jill Ferguson and read to the group during her remarks:
Ode to East Meck Eagles
I think that I shall never see
Such beautiful faces as I see in these
Faces that bring back the past
Filled with memories that fade too fast
Faces that show trials untold
When oh when did we get so old
Look at our wrinkles here and there
Little brown spots, scars everywhere
And why didn’t they tell us way back then
That our baby fat would return and win
Our brains once sharp as a tack
Now, a little something quite often they lack
Oh no, here’s a person headed for me
Just who the heck are they supposed to be
Who cares if it takes GPS to show the way
It’s fifty-five long years since graduation day
Don’t try to compare, don’t try to assess
Truth be told, most of us are a bit of a mess
So dear friends, after all is said and done
We’re blessed to be here, pretend we’re still young
Please raise your glass to Gregg and Harry
And thank them for this chance to be merry
But before we resume our chatter and fun …
Remember who you are and where you are from!
